Prototype is a game that resides on both the PS3 and the 360. This is the story of a man who's infected and has the power of transformation! Interested? Read on.

Single Player
You play the character of Alex Mercer who has been infected with a virus, now this virus has granted him the power to transform his hands into five weapons of mass destruction which are; swords, whips, giant hammers, claws and boosted strength. The main downfall to this is that your character loses his memory and has died, but came back and cannot die. The storyline follows Alex fighting his way trough other infected humans (different strain of the virus Alex has so they can't transform like you) and the BlackWatch, a form of army dedicated to hunting you down. Right at the start of the game you have all your powers available to you, including max jump height, max running speed and all your most powerful attacks, but then lose it all via the story taking you back in time to the start of Alex mercer's problems.
The story follows the narration by the main character, continuously changing from the 18th day of infection to whatever day it is depending on how far in the story you are. The more you people you absorb with your own memories the more of the story you can find out yourself rather than the story tell you. You yourself have to follow set missions to further the story, but not to have fun. The majority of the game is free roam so you can do as you wish and in which ever order you wish.

Gameplay
The controls are simple, it's a fun game to play, what more would you want? Well we want action, blood, gore and zombies, well you got it. Other than the main missions, we have side missions, such as Gliding into targets, checkpoint races, consumption, and killing sprees, all having there own bit of excitement. All the side missions have a ranking system, bronze, silver and gold, getting each of these rankings gives you EP (Evolution Points) which allow you to buy new skills and powers, making you even more powerful and more fun for killing people with. The controls are simple enough, R1 for your side powers, L1 for your main powers, direction buttons for quick select of your powers, R2 to sprint, X to jump, square and triangle for attacks and circle to grab, simple. One last main feature of the game is "the Web of Intrigue" which is all you memories in one spider-man type of image. To obtain all of your memories back, during free roam you will eventually come across some moving red markers on your mini-map, these are people you have to hunt down and consume.

Graphics and Sound
The graphics of the game aren't the best on either consoles but still look excellent, nonetheless. I have noticed a few glitches however when your at a certain angle and the cutscene is activated, the video sometimes end up going into buildings, but nearly every game has those. The textures aren't all that varied as nearly every building has the same colours and street art. The daytime is always changing from day to night and visa versa, but is hardly worth any notice.
The voice acting for Alex is normal at its best, it's not brilliant, but it's not bad either, mainly because it is hard to understand as his voice is rather musky and unclear. The screaming counts for at least a quarter of the game just hearing people run and scream from you is fun enough. The game only has a soundtrack during the cutscenes, but during the gameplay there is only the sound of the hustle and bustle and goings on of people and cars below you. The games volume is inconsistent as at one point during a cutscene where Alex and another character is talking it can be really quiet, and then a few seconds later it can be really loud with an explosion, this does get annoying at the best of times.
Conclusion
This game is one of the best free roam games out to date, the amount of slaughter is amazing and so fun with the variety of different moves you can pull.
+ Mass Destruction
+ Nice Free Roam
+ Good Storyline
- No Multiplayer
- Voice Acting Could Have Been Better
